“New year, new me”
January 2019. The year that everyone said would be different. The year that your best friend makes a pact to stop sleeping with the tall blonde from tinder. The year that your boss said that he is going to stop being a boss and start being a leader. The year YOU (yeah, you) said that you would lose 10 pounds by February 14th so your ex will see that you don’t need him anymore.
The question is, why is it that we wait until the end of the year to make these changes? We all know that 2 weeks in, that $24.99/month gym membership is going to be a waste of money because you won’t go anymore. Your boss is still going to be a dick, and your best friend is still going to be getting some. Nothing really changes.
I don’t make new year resolutions. Want to know why? Because if it is December 26th and I am ready to start changing myself for the better, why would I wait an extra five days? Why wouldn’t I just start then? I am no healthy person, don’t get me wrong, but when I want to make a change in my life, I refuse to wait until January 1st of whatever year it is to make that change.
I’m not saying I have NEVER made a new year resolution because who hasn’t? What I’m saying is stop waiting for the time that you get to say “Im going to wait until the new year” and just do it! You’re the boss of your brain, so take control. Fight temptations, stop lying to yourself and just do it. Surround yourself with positivity and don’t fail yourself.
